Car Warranty Scam Keeps Calling?

For the past 5 months or so I've been getting the Car Warranty Scam calls. They call me and say my warranty is running out, this is my 3rd notice, yada yada yada. In my case, it isn't true. I've talked to someone twice, they hang up when you pretend to get too serious without giving them money (asking for a call back number) and I've told them never to call me again. They have started, in the last 3 weeks or so, to call me usually 3 times a week! It's 7:24 am and they just called me 10 minutes ago! Are you kidding me! It's a little early…How do I stop this? They call my cell phone, ATT. I can't block a number without paying for it to be blocked…I've read articles online about how police have tried finding the source of the calls but it is pretty impossible…What can I do? Ignoring them is an option, but a quite annoying one! When I tell every I know not to call b/c I'm putting the baby so sleep…Then I get this ridiculous call! Ughhh. Help me!!!!
Thank You!

I've told them multiple times to take me off their list, but they continue to call. I've also asked them for a call back number, etc. and they hang up.

Ask them for their supervisors name, and tell them you want to be removed from their calling list. If they continue to call after that, you can sue them for calling you since you asked them not to.

Post the number here, I can get them to stop calling. :)

You need to call the Attorney General in your state and find out what to do. This is harrassment in Kentucky and carries a fine. Report them to your states Attorney General.

I have had the same problem. Usually I just ignore them or any calls I don't recognize for that matter. At night put your phone on silent or vibrate unless you are expecting a call from someone.

keep listening and they should give a choice of pressing one or two press two and you will get booted off the list or something like that

    Ohh Woo Pee Dooo
    .
    You are getting them too
    .
We got a 97 Dodge Neon with 99,000 miles on it
and it is a near basket case well almost
    .
And when they call me up I tell them how long do I have to wait till I can take my Neon to the repair shop to get an overhaul to make the car safe to drive
    .
And they the woman kind of ask me what is wrong with it and I answer
    .
Got a couple of minutes I'll go and get my list of things wrong to tell ya
    .
I put the phone down and when I get back she kind of hung up on me
    .
I do a redial to the number and tell the person there I got disconnected before I could tell all the things wrong with my car
    .
And they kind of hang up on me too
    .
I did a redial and no one would answer my call
    .
So I kind of got put on their don't call list of bad cars to put an extended warranty on
    .

that's harassment. tell them if they call again, you can and will file charges. it's ridiculous, they even call 911.

Unfortunately, all the legal advice in the world won't really help you if they are calling from out of the country. I am on the do not call list and when I got a call about a free Hawaii trip, I asked for the address of the company so I could turn them in. Turns out they were in Guadalajara, Mexico. This is what many companies are doing now. Easiest thing to do is refuse to answer when that number is on the caller ID. If I'm feeling punky, I'll do stuff like answer it and start reciting poetry at them. "We have an offer for you!" "She dwelt among the untrodden ways." "I beg your pardon?" "Beside the paths of Dove", etc. There is more complicated stuff like finding out what company is using the services of the telemarketing firm and writing them directly threatening to sue or file criminal charges, but that's really a waste of energy. Just don't answer the calls.

I usually use either one of two tactics.
    First Scenario:
    Telemarketeer -> T
    Me, Myself ->M
T: May I interest you in..
    M: No.
T: May I ask why you..
    M: No.
    T: Can I then..
    M: No
    and so on

    Scenario 2:
T:Can I interest you in our sales insurance tax (or whatever question they come up with)
M: Sorry, what was your name again?
    T: Charlie Brown.
M: Ok, could you spell that for me please?
    T: Uh, ok (spells name)
M: Please tell me where you got my name and number.
T: Uh, got it from XXXXXX
M:I see. You do this job Full Time?
    T: No, part time.
M: So what else do you for a living

Usually this is the point they realise you're trying to waste as much time as possible and they try to get rid of you. DON'T HANG UP. Make sure you keep them busy as long as possible. That way you make sure they will be very low on their bonus.

    Few other things:
Repeat what they say. Keep repeating them until they ask you to stop, when they ask why. Reply that you are training to be a telemarketer.

Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a joke. "C'mon Leon, cut it out! Seriously Leon, how's your mom?"

When you answer, stick the phone in the microwave(don't turn it on) This way they can hear themselves and find out how rediculous they sound.

Tell them to talk VERY SLOWLY, because you want to write EVERY WORD DOWN.

During the speech interupt and say "Are you Candian?" if they Say no… say "We only converse with Canadians"…. If they say yes say…" We don't talk to your kind."

After the telemarketer tells you about their product say "I don't want to buy it from you, is there any where else I can buy it?"

When the telemarketer says they're from an insurance company say, "Great timing, I'm on the freeway with my cell phone. I just hit some guys truck, and people say that I should have insurance, but I never got around to getting it. So maybe you could help me out!"
