Does the extended warranty provided by American Express cover theft?
->
A laptop is being purchased to be taken to college and theft and other typical college laptop-related incidents are a concern. Does the extended warranty provided by AMEX cover only what was covered by the original warranty? And does it cover only the manufacturer’s warranty? Or can it also extend the warranty on "Extended Warranties" that was purchased?
The specific "extended warranty" i am thinking about purchasing is the
1 Yr At-home IdeaPad Warranty with 1Yr Accidental Damage Protection at Lenovo for an Ideapad. Would AMEX simply extend the coverage of this warranty to 2 years?
Or would the base warranty be enhanced to the coverage provided by the warranty i mentioned above + 1 year as well?

It is a "TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express – Business"

A quick check of the American Express Card website shows that they offer protection against accidental damage or theft for "eligible purchases" for up to 90 days from the date of purchase.
There are limitations to the coverage. American Express also issues many different types of cards and benefits vary by card. Check out the link below for more information.
Edit:
As far as the extended warranty, I found the following information:
"Extended Warranty
When you pay for a covered item entirely with your Card, Extended Warranty1 extends the terms of the original manufacturer’s warranty for a period of time equal to the duration of the original manufacturer’s warranty, up to one additional year. Items with warranties less than a year will have extended warranties equal to the original warranty time period. Coverage is limited to the actual amount charged to your Card for the item or $10,000, whichever is less, not to exceed $50,000 per Cardmember account per policy year."
So, it seems that the additional time is added to the original manufacturer’s warranty. If you purchased an extended warranty, it appears that you will not get any benefit from this extension.
