Has anyone successfully used Targets extended warranty?

I have a 80gb Zune mp3 player. I’ve had it for 2 years. The 1st month I had it the screen broke. I’ve read it’s a common problem due to the battery getting hot and swelling. Either way it wasn’t covered by Microsofts warranty. Yesterday I was updating my Zune software and everything froze. After disconnecting it, it never powered up again. I called MS Support and they said it needed to be sent in and gave me pricing options, I told them it was still covered under Targets Ex Warr. I called Target and told them the problem. I also called Target when the screen broke 2 yrs ago too. So they should have record of it and be able to see its unrelated. The player worked fine for 2 years w/a crack. I’ve been paying $15 a month on a Zunepass so it must’ve been working. Anyways Target said due to the crack MS would simply send it back unrepaired even though its not the problem. She even recommended fixing the glass before I send it. Anyone have advice or experience w/this?

Sorry but it appears since it’s already 2 years ago that they insist on charging you. My suggestion is to either pay their fee or invest in a better quality player such as an ipod instead.

Instead of calling, take it to a Target store. You’ll have a better chance of talking to someone who isn’t clueless. Be aware that if you didn’t buy a plan with accidental damage coverage, you may have a hard time getting that repair covered free. Take any paperwork with you including records of phone calls etc. They have more people trying to get over than legitimate claims but losing ones cool usually doesn’t help the customer’s cause.
