Should i get extended warranty on a 2008 Mazda3 with 20,000 miles (16,000 left on mazda warranty)?

I am wondering if i should get the extended 100,000 mile warranty the car dealership is offering me?
I still have 16,000 miles left with mazda factory warranty. Should I get extended warranty after that or not get it at all?

Mazda does make a very nice car. Way above average in reliability. If you are the kind of person who takes very good care of your car, then no. Take a pass on the warranty. It’s not likely that there will be a major issue with the car until after 100K miles. Every dealer wants you to buy a warranty. There’s big markup in them. What they are selling it for, is probably double what they send to Mazda. Unless it’s an official Mazda warranty, those so called 2nd & 3rd party warranties are not worth the paper they’re written on.

Extended warranties are crap. They are incredibly over priced and completely unnecessary especially for the high quality Mazda 3. It is very unlikely that you will have any kind of major repair before 100,000 miles. The extended warranty is simply another way that the dealership is trying to make that little bit more money off of you. Don’t get it. Just get your oil changed regularly and you will enjoy your 3 for years to come with no issues.
