What are my options for an extended car warranty?
I’m looking for suggestions for reputable third-party auto warranties available for car owners.
The car I started leasing in early May 2008 has 33,000 miles on it. I’m way over on miles, and am expecting I will have to buy it. Buying it won’t be an issue because I love the car, but it’s going to be out of the manufacturer’s bumper-to-bumper warranty in a few months or so. I don’t like the feeling of having to worry about a major repair wreaking havoc when I least need any trouble.

IMO extended warranties are a scam. Very seldom will you need a warranted repair that will pay you back for the money it cost. Better idea would be to start a savings account with the money you would pay them, and then if and/or when something happens, draw from the savings. Keep your vehicle maintenance up on regular intervals and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

I often wonder that policies aint worth the payments on the other hand for some people it is, especially if you have an unreliable clunker. They are a life saver if you dont have savings to shell out for repairs.

car warranties are a rip-off. The fact that you are concerned with the welfare of your car’s mechanical integrity means you are a person that will take care of your car with proper maintenance and driving habits. Don’t buy an extended warranty or you will be funding repairs for people who don’t take car of their cars. Good Luck.
